So whenever I try to install/uninstall quicktime, I get this message:
The gearture you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package QuickTime.msi in the box below.
I click ok, and I get this:
The path D:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP936.TMP\QuickTime.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package QuickTime.msi in a folder from which yuo can insall the product QuickTime.
...Uh...whats this mean, and is there anything I can do to get rid of this so I can install a new version so I can install the new version of itunes so I can use my ipod? lol...but yeah any suggestions/help? =(
Okay, I was having the same problem and tried a lot of different things. My technology understanding is very good. I am a computer major in college and this stumped me. I came across the program Windows Install Clean Up.
Simply go to [link removed]
Look for Windows Install Cleanup Utility 7.2 and download it and install it. Then choose Quicktime in the menu list and click "uninstall" and it will remove Quicktime from your system. Then you should be good to go! I installed a new version of iTunes and it worked. Good luck peoples!
I encountered the same problem. I did all above, but it didn't work. in control panel->add/remove program, no trace of my quicktime and itunes, i uninstalled all apple program as mentioned in apple web, still didn't work. I used windows uninstaller cleanup, still the same. Can somebody advise me pls? I m desperate already, dunno what to do. Because this message keep come out: "Error reading from file C:\Documents and Settings\OwnerLocalSettings\Temp\IXP306.TMP\quicktime.msi Kindly help me please... :((
Just experienced problem of iTunes failing to replace older version, unable to remove old files, eg old QuickTime and also Apple Mobile Support(necessary to support latest ipod 3.1.2) As above, used 'Windows Uninstaller Cleanup Program, followed by RegCure to tidy up the Registry. This was a last resort action following failed attempts with standard uninstal and revo Uninstaller. Ans applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2. Hope this helps others! brian.swindon
The answer above is correct. But you may need to close all files associated with Quicktime. "Start Task Manager", on Vista hit Cnt Alt Del and choose start Task Manager, look for any applications of Quicktime and close them. Then do as the other respondent advised. This should allow you to uninstall it. It is always best to install and uninstall through this method.

this is a valid link to download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
I used it to delete remaining quicktime installation files which caused the same trouble with the reinstallation.
hope it helps! worked for me :)
If you're using Windows XP, go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs. Then uninstall Quicktime through that.
If you're on Vista, go to My Computer > There will be tabs along the top, click on the one that says Uninstall or Change a Program. Then uninstall Quicktime through that.
download the same quicktime you have downloaded before.then extract it to any folders you want.copy the source from the extracted files.after that you can continue uninstalling it.hope it works.
Thanks ann12345 that prog worked fine and quick. Be carefull using the installer cleanup though. Looks dangerous and scary.
Google Windows Install Clean Up 7.2 and download that and install it. It worked for me ..hopefully it will work for you.
