How to do my own tattoo?

I was thinkin about makin my own tattoo, before you say anything about how dangereous it is to do it and how itll look bad well im already an artist who sold a paintin for 20,000. but im only 15 so my parents wouldnt let me buy a tattoo gun so I’ll probably use a needle adn heat it up to sterilize it, and dip it in some ink, and mkae my moon/star tattoo. but how deep do you have to put the needle in your skin? and after your finished do you have to put a bandage over it? if so, for how long?

I don’t care if you want to hear it or not… thats dangerous. You’re an artist? Just because you can draw doesn’t permit you to give yourself a TATTOO. You obviously don’t realize that u’d have that on you forever. Drawings are so easy to mess up on, you cant say you never mess up when drawing things, everyone does. Thats why you need to go to a professional who has the RIGHT tools. I have 8 tattoos and I’m telling you… You don’t even know what your doing, I can tell just from reading that. Its so much more work then just having a needle and drawing skills. Heat has nothing to do with anything, where did you get that from? Tattoo needles aren’t just any needles, they are attached to a machine. Im kind of getting frustrated. You obviously don’t know what your doing if you are asking questions. Be smart and get it done right.

Use witch hazel, not burning. Get a needle and thread it with a lot of thread, and wrap it around the eraser end of a pencil. Bind them really tightly, as this is what’s should be used to do your tattoo. Tied the thread as close to the point of the needle as possible and after you’re sure it’s completely sanitized, sanitize the skin with witch hazel (not alcohol because that’s more painful, and alcohol can dry up the skin too quickly). Draw an outline for your tat. Then use calligraphy ink or henna ink to dip the needle into and do frequent pokes into the skin. I’d suggest doing it in several sessions if it’s big. Do not drag the needle, and re-dip it into the skin frequently. When you’re finished, clean it with witch hazel again. Do not put any creams or lotions on it as they may draw out the ink. Rinse it off with water until the water is free of blood and ink. Put a bandage over it when you sleep. For next two weeks, continue to clean it with witch hazel multiple times a day to avoid infection. Although going to an artist is probably more sanitary, this is the best way to do it if you’re going to do it at home.

Answer #3

you might want to just draw your design and give it to a expert… I’m just saying. By the way, using a needle just a ordinary needle will like seriously take a long effin time.

Answer #4

if you have to ask, dont even think about it, the fact that you drew it up is cool, BUT go to a tat artist, tattoos aren’t like a painting, you can’t throw it in the dumpster if all goes wrong, you are an artist, which is awesome, you are NOT a TATTOO ARTIST, if it’s something you want to do, learn, but not off this site, the idiot that thinks they know it all probably doesn’t know squat, go to a shop

LISTEN,I dont want to sound like an adult or anything, but that can kill you.Think anout it,some inks are lead or glycol based, those are dangerous under the skin.I am 16,I wanted to do my own tat,but I did research and discovered some ingredients in many inks.Just wait three years.HECK,I gotta wait 5 years before I can buy beer.If I can wait 5 years, you gotta be able to wait three.I know the wait hurts like hell, but you can do it.But if you cant,go talk to a tat artist, they’ll give you information.

Before you even consider trying anythig on yourself, practice tattooing on a grapefruit.

Answer #8

That’s awesome that you want to design your own tattoo. Many people do. Choosing the right tattoo design is not the only consideration. You need to go to a skilled tattoo artist who will use the best inks and take the proper health and safety precautions. And don’t just go to ANY tattoo artist… ask around and find one with a good reputation.

I’m getting a tattoo(I made my own design) as soon as I can find a reputable tattoo artist. I’m not just going to waltz into any parlor and let them scrawl on me.
