Heat will cause your hair to straighten out. Get a hair brush and a hand held hair dryer (blower). Put the back of the brush against your head with the bristles facing out. Sandwich your hair between the bristles of the brush and the hair dryer. Turn on the hair dryer using a heat setting, and basically “slide” the brush and hair dryer together down the length of your hair. If you do this repeatedly, your hair will lay flat against your head and not stick up.

Another simple method is to just get your hair really wet in that area and press the hair flat against your head. Let the hair “air dry” naturally. The wet hair will lay flat and dry that way. Though not as effective as the brush and hair dryer, it works pretty good for the most part.

You may also investigate the way that your hair is cut. Hair that is cut properly will most often lay flat against your head naturally and not give you any problems.

Also, a simple good quality hair conditioner used when shampoing your hair will quite often help (and also protect your hair from heat damage if you use the hair dryer a lot on your hair).

Using a little light hair spray may help. Or, you might try a very TINY dab of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly in the palm of your hand… run your hands under water to spread the vaseline out real thin… then “lightly” brush your hands through your hair. The little added touch of vaseline (and I mean a “real little amount”) will help you to manage the way your hair wants to lay against your head.
