How do I find a new job, I feel like I might be unemployable, can

OK, here’s the situation:

I have a BA in history, a fascination with the written word and the need for communications. However, I’ve been stuck in a bartending job for the last three years and I want OUT of it as soon as possible.

The problem is, no one seems to want to hire me since I’m nothing but a bartender. A job like that means no benefits, no health insurance, no future, and almost a guaranteed end to a relationship I’m now trying to build, and the possibility of having to leave my apartment due to lack of money.

I should probably just give up comepletely and break it off with this person and learn to suck it up and stay in my job…anyone have any thoughts? I doubt it…

Need for communications? Try learing what you can from the internet & then leveraging that knowledge to make money.

The internet is all about dialogue, communication, etc - the ability to provide a service (such as funadvice ;) ) or ability to connect people without boundries, borders, etc.

So, for the learning bit on internet stuff - you might try reading forums about web publishing, copywriting, blogging, and internet marketing - that way, you could develop some skill in a new field from whereever (internet access at home or what not) while stuck in the bartending job. While you build up your skills, etc you could try publishing a website, or doing some copywriting for a site that could use the help (we’ve got an opening here, actually). As to this bit:

almost a guaranteed end to a relationship I’m now trying to build

Better off not bailing out on the beginning of what could be a pretty good love story ;) Good luck to you (and let us know how it goes, etc).
