How do I convince my parents to let me get contacts/piercings?

Okay so I am 13 turning 14 pretty soon. Both my parents said I can have contact lenses at this age and now they say I need to wait another year. And then they go with the “Sorry, we don’t have enough money right now” yet they buy useless things. My mom earlier this year said I could get a nose ring when I’m 14 and a belly ring when I’m 16. So I ask her today and she starts flipping out on me saying “When you are 16 you will get a nose and when you’re 18 you will get a belly ring!”. I even offered to pay for these things with my own money. They do this with everything I want to buy myself. I am pretty responsible and make good choices. Is there anyway I can convince my parents to let me buy things with my own money and get peircings/contacts?

You’re not old enough to get any piercing except for your ears. if it’s a respectable shop, they won’t touch you until you’re 16, and in rare cases 15. Even with parental consent and you’re own money, the shops would probably turn you away.

You need to just wait it out. Your parents sound pretty stuck in their ways and it’s probably for good reason. Contact lenses aren’t a necessity (glasses are less hassle anyway) and neither are piercings, so making the point that your parents buy useless things instead of buying you useless things is kind of ironic.

You may find that when you’re 15,16, even 18, you don’t want either of those piercings.

Umm the 1st lady up there is dumb. Alotof shops will take you. Im 15 & have 8 piercings (4 In my riqht ear, 3 in my right and my tonque). Nothings wrong with piercings. They heal!

Ha ha.

Well, parents can be pretty annoying, huh? I don’t know where you are, but where I am the legal age to have piercings done without parent permission is sixteen. I’m sixteen, but my mum has let me get all my eleven piercings, because one, my sister is a professional body piercer and she does all my piercings, and two, I tell her that I can get my sister to do it for me, or I can go to a shop like Central Beauty or Hairhouse Warehouse and get it done anyway.

But parents are very stubborn when it comes to stuff like that. But then again, they can’t rule our lives forever. If they still won’t let you get any piercings, just wait until the legal age wherever you are is, and get it done. I’d probably get your navel done, because they won’t really see it as you would with a nose piercing, but it hurts like hell for the first couple of days, when you sit down and stuff so they might get a bit sus.

Lol.

Hope this helps!

weel they lie when they say no shop will take you. im fourteen (since april) and im trying to get mom to let me get my belly button pierced. I’ve been researching (a lot) and calling piercers and most will do it with parent consent at 13. only two shops (out of ten) said 15 with parental consent. I found that sitting with my mom and talking like a responsible adult is swaying her. ask her her concerns, show your responsible by keeping your room clean ect. research, look into whatever you want to get. and being good always helps; you cetch more flys with honey than you do viniger. good luck, but seriously consider it, dont just beg on a wimb.

I was 14 when I got my belly button done and I was 15 when I got my nose and nero, a good shop did all mine so I don’t know what you think you know about piercings but obviously not that muchh. just go online and look up the risks of the piercings and sit your parents down and show them everything. I had my mom actually talk to a guy from a shop which helped a tonn

Answer #8

if you have older sibblings that want something and your parents give into them esily then have your sis or bro say they want you to go through pain with them and get the same or different peircing.in my case I had no choice my older sister wanted her belly done and I didnt but wanting it or not I got it first and I kept it. and a lot of places will take you at 13 if your parents sign for you

Answer #9

nero… I got my nose pierced at 13 with out parent consent at one of the best piercing shops around.. I got my lip done when I was 14, and my belly button done when I was 14 as well. So the information your giving is complete jack sh*t. I am 15 and have 10 piercings.
