I am 14 and I have traveled all over the world, but at least one adult is always with me. I want to fly to Philly to see my best friend who moved away. My mother is worried and too afraid to let me go alone and says I should be 16 at least. I would not get lost and I travel a lot so I am pretty pro at airports. Can someone help me convince her?
Why don't you try to negotiate with your mom. When you're scheduling your flight make sure that it's non stop, from your local airport to Philly. Or if you have to switch planes at a certain point, ask your mom if she would fly with you to that point. Then suggest you fly the rest of the way alone. There's one more option. Some air lines offer a "buddy system". For an extra fee the air line will have someone look after you, just to be sure that you board, or don't get lost at a lay over. I'm sure you're probably mature enough to fly alone, and your mom probably thinks so too. Being a mom also, it's hard for us to let our children go away alone. Not because we don't trust our children. Because we don't trust the rest of the world with our children. Just talk to your mom, try to be mature and polite during the conversation. I am your age to, and getting your parents to let you do that isn't easy, but just tell them your ready to try it to see what its like, and tell them you'll be careful, and that you will let them know when you land. Also that you think you're old enough to try it, and that a lot of kids do it. That is what I told my mom and I do it every month when I fly to my her house.
my dad is a pilot so I travel at least 2 a month so I am a pro also. my parents told me I could fly alone if I acted responsible so ask your parents if you can prove yourself responsible if you can fly alone...it worked for me
