My laptop is fairly new, I've only had it for about 4 months. They keyboard has some touch buttons on the side, not like a regular button, it's like a touch sensitive area to change; volume, music tacks, etc.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what would be safe to wipe it with? It could use a gentle wipe but I have no idea what I can use that isn't going to ruin it.
Turn the laptop off, make sure whatever you use isn't dripping, make sure no moisture gets trapped inside, let it dry when you're done and you'll be fine.
The keyboard is probably one of the less sensitive parts. I wouldn't try it but I bet even if you did get water in there, turned it on, and shorted something, you could probably let it dry out and it'd work again.
It sounds like the one I have.
Just run a wet wipe across it (I use the Lysol ones, myself), but make sure the computer is off when you do it or you'll have dozens of applications opening up.
I use wet wipes or the spray, but I usually dilute it with water and then wrap a paper towel around it so the concentration isnt as strong... it hasnt damaged my computer so far...
That's how my laptop is. I just spray a teeny bit of windex on some toilet paper and it works well.
