how damaging is alcohol to sperm?

my fiance and I have been ttc for about a year and half now. I have very irregular cycles-always have. I have been thinking this whole time it was bc of me we could not conceive but I have been doing some research and found out alcohol can damage sperm count. I was just wondering if anybody knew just how bad it can hurt our chances bc he drinks pretty regularly. I just finished my first round of clomid and the side effects were hell I dont wanna be putting in all the work if his drinking could be the reason we are not conceiving. any advice will help- thanks!

It can potentially affect a man’s sperm count, but its not that likely to me. It can though reduce the desire and performance for intercourse. There are also a numerous amount of things that come into play that affect a males sperm count, with that being said alcohol isn’t the only thing. Smoking, illicit drugs like cocaine.

Also if he frequently masturbates then his sperm count can be reduced by this, but the sperm cells that do come out are proven to be stronger with the gene’s they carry. It doesn’t hurt though to tell him to stop drinking as this can lead to several other issues as well. Eating healthy foods and keeping your internal system clean can lead to stronger sperm cells in a man, same goes for you. Although you don’t want to out rule the possibility of alcohol being the cause of you not conceiving

abusing alcohol, or drinking reguarly does lower sperm count in males it also makes females less fertile it also increases the amount of abnormal sperm in males, so lowers sperm quality and can also lower sex drive if hes a regular drinker, it can very well be the reaosn why you cant conceve but you should BOTH get your fertility tested

Answer #3

use a ovulation test then try when you are ovulating
