what causes mental ilness and what exactly is it ? how can it be cured?

Well different mental illnesses are caused by different things… and so there are different treatments for each… (and uhm no idea where perfectlyflawedxxx is getting her information from, a lot of people manage to get better). As for bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, there are medications, and split personailty isnt a disorder… it’s called multiple personality disorder, and there are debates whether it even exists… you’re going to have to be more specific… depression has several possible causes (as do most mental disorders)

Its just a chemical imbalance in the brain,usually theirs really no cure for a mental illness,only depression I say personally,had experienced depression for years but I fought my way out of it and im happy,just takes time,and you have to realize things are’nt as bad as they seem,so basically I am cured from depression,now bipolar,schizo,sp split personality,their is no cure and its sad and scary,the only thing they can do is take meds for the rest of their life.

Usually if it’s bad it needs to be controlled by Lithium. My mother is BiPolar beyond belief and needs it to act “normal.”
