How can I take care of my cousin?

Ok, this may seem weird, but it’s true. my aunt and uncle are…unfit parents. therefore, my 14 year old cousin treats me like I’m his mother. I can’t turn that idea away b/c he’s always looked up to me and asked me for all the advice. however, I’m only 18 and am nowhere near ready to “help take care fo him”. I mean, I have no boyfriend, my parents are working multiple jobs, and I’m in the process of trying to get one. I love my cousin dearly and want to do what’s right for him (no one else does), so how can I do this w/o help b/c there’s no one out there (my parents don’t provide much help).

You can just keep doing what your doing by being there for him. That’s all you can do for now anyway. You being in his life will certainly help. Have you told your parents about the situation?

All you can do is support him like you’re doing right now. I’m sure your cousin appreciates you in his life and you two are real close. Would your parents be okay with you taking care of him? Have you told them yet? You have to think about what your parents would say. I’m sorry that your aunt and uncle are unfit. I’m sure they don’t like to be confronted by that too well. Talk to your parents and see what they say.
