How can I stop my Labrador Retriever from scooting?

I have been told a few things lately about my labrador retriever’s scooting on the rugs. I am getting too many different stories though. Is the scooting from her diet, worms, or is it her “anal glands”? She does the scoot a few days a month and I did give her deworming medicine as well as changed her diet to Nutro. She scoots her butt along the floor in a cricle for a few minutes before giving the rug a good sniff. Any ideas?

my old family dog had the same problem. She ended up having surgery to remove (? I think) the glands.
