I wanted to ask the question because in my house my aunt made some cake in the oven who was staying over forgot to check if the gas part of the oven was off but she left.so from the time she left which was 12:30 to 4:00 the gas was leaking my mom smelled something funny checked to see if the oven was on it wasn't but as the smell became stronger she realized it was gas then just open the windows and the front door to let it out but she says if we had turned on the oven like if she wanted cook something the oven and are house would exploded or if we didn't do anything about it we would have suffocated to death and then some. so what chemicals in gas are harmful
It's not chemicals in the gas it's the gas itself that is harmful, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is predominantly a mixture of hydrocarbon gases (mainly propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10).
LPG is non-toxic but at very high concentrations in air, LPG vapour acts as an anaesthetic and subsequently an asphyxiate by diluting or decreasing the available oxygen.
thanks for answering
