What do I do if I got herpes at 19??

I just found out my boyfriend gave me herpes..im only 19..I started takin valtrex..please help..dont know how to move on and live a happy life..what am I in for!!!

You’re life is not over. Do not despair! Know that many people live happy normal lives with Herpes. They have children, they get married and they learn to deal with their virus. As usual, communication is a key element in healthy relationship (with or without herpes!). My best advice right now is get informed. Learn how to deal with herpes and avoid outbreaks. Also learn how to protect yourself and others from herpes and other stds. Reach out to people who can help you feel comfortable with it.

I understand this post is old but this whole terrifying outlook and social stigmatism on herpes has got to stop lol hsv-2 is no goddamn different than the hsv-1 you get on your lip from time to time. It happens once or twice a year if anything at all. I don’t have herpes but in no way would I refuse to get into a relationship because a girl has this MINOR condition and I stress MINOR!!! To put it into perspective its no more dangerous the freaking common cold.
