Is he still considered gay?

“Considered gay” by whom? It seems like you’re more concerned with outward appearance than the feelings of “this person.” Forget “considerations”–if this person genuinely feels a attraction to another man and also finds the concept of sex with them disgusting, he is most likely battling internally between his natural feelings (homosexual) and his upbringing which has taught him to revile homosexual behaviour. It’s a kind of self-loathing that can only lead to pain. I suggest that this person seek counseling about his hatred, but as far as the attraction goes, it could be that he’s gay or bi, or it could be that he’s straight (mostly) and is just really “in love” with this other person (non-eros). Sex and love are complicated and can’t be reduced down to “gay” or “not gay.” It’s a whole universe for one to explore, but there’s no room for disgust and self-loathing.

Generally if someone has a sexual attraction to the same sex they are; bisexual, gay, or maybe just bicurious. A lot of people, at some point or another feel attracted to the same sex but don’t always engage in sexual favors. Really the only thing that will clear this up for you is experience and learning about your sexuality. This could be something that passes.
