Is high tyrod harmfull during pregancy?

Answer #1

Hi,

Do you mean thyroid? Yes, it can be. You should plan with your doctor, because hyperthyroidism can cause thyrotoxicosis. The risk of miscarriage and stillbirth is increased if thyrotoxicosis goes untreated, and the overall risks to mother and baby further increase if the disease persists or is first recognized late in pregnancy.

Answer #2

About 4% women are now suffering from thyroid and is very risky during pregnancy. Women with both hypo and hyperthyroidism can suffer from extreme morning sickness. Miscarriage is common in both hypo- and hyperthyroidism. Women with hyperthyroidism are at a higher risk of still birth and preeclampsia as well as giving birth to babies with low birth weight.
