It would hurt things in my opinion. The people who dont vote honestly dont care and if it was mandatory then you would have more people voting for random people when they dont even know the issues and what they stand for. You’d have a bunch of people playing eeinie meanie miney moe or picking the name they like best, i dont see how thats beneficial.
i agree with mandyloo, if voting was mandatory and not a free choice it would simply offer another form of social rebellion against the government- there would be more write in candidates like mickey mouse or eddie murphy getting votes and that would kind of defeat the purpose of voting and take away from the real candidates and what they stand for.
If voting were mandatory, then education on candidates would have to be too. Otherwise, there would be immense problems. Pretty much those that Mandy pointed out.
It woud cause a lot of problems, there is non believers and those who sometimes don’t even know enuff to vote, also it would get into our freedom in this country.
here in australia voting is mandatory, if you dont vote you get fined!
