grrr car trouble...

well I was driving around all day yesterday but on my way home my car randomly stopped getting power and whenever I gave it gas it would die… its a manuel transmission 5 speed 1994 pontiac sunbird. Whenever I let off the clutch and give it gas it spudders a little and then dies. Unless my gas gauge is broken its not lack of gas cause I have 1/4th of a tank. also when I rev in nuetral it shakes a little and then dies… can anyone give me some hints? and is it going to be cheap and fast t fix? cause my car is on the side of the road right now…

It’s either your fuel filter or your carb. needs to be rebuilt. You definitely are not getting fuel to run the engine, so the easiest fix is a new fuel filter and they are pretty easy to change. Also, it could be your fuel pump is not working, and you will need a new one. Hope this helps.

I agree, it sounds like a clogged fuel filter. A 1/4 is not much gas!! Don’t let it get below 1/2! You should always keep a full tank, it keeps condensation from occurring, and also add a bottle of HEET periodically.

Sounds like a clogged up fuel filter. I am not sure where it is located on your car. I would go to your local parts store tell them what kinda of car you have and they should be able to tell you where it is located, if the filter is not located in the gas tank then it will be a cheap and easy fix. If you get it going I would also run some fuel injector/carb cleaner next time you fill up, and try not to run your car on an empty tank, it will pick up any dirt or trash that may be on the bottom of the tank. Good Luck
