Does Garfield the cat (in cartoon) represent a bad character?

Answer #1

He represents a cynical, sarcastic, lovable cat. He actually just represents a cat. A typical fat cat!

Answer #2

I believe people read into cartoon characters too much. Its the same situation as the cookie monster and parents were trying to say he was a bad influence and promotedbad eating habits. Cartoons are for entertainment and for enjoyment - it is the parents responsibility to teach children proper eating habits and the difference between cartoons and reality. We shouldnt be dependant on television to teach our children.

Answer #3

My question has nothing to do with educating kids in general or my kids. I saw the film last night And I thought that as a main actor (main character in that film), he is so means.

Answer #4

*mean

Answer #5

He represents what cats usually do, with some things that are not of course real or possible. He breaks things, he behaves he doesn’t behave. That’s just how he acts, as for the talking, adventures, and lasagna obsession I don’t know about that.

Answer #6

He is just supposed to have the personality of a real cat

Answer #7

I just did not know that cat could be that mean lol

Answer #8

Yep they can b that mean, mine is, and she is always guarding the fridge!!! Lol, its cuz of the heat that comes from the fridge

Answer #9

Garfield isn’t always mean, but he is selfish. Which is how cats often seem to us. I have a cartoon on my fridge, the dog thinks “She feeds me and takes care of my every need. She must be a god.” The cat thinks “She feeds me and takes care of my every need. I must be a god.” Also remember, the movie you saw was a HUMAN’s creation of a cat. So actually maybe the real Garfield is ok, and it’s the human who’s making him look mean!
