GAD vs. Breast Cancer.

I was all ready to tell my mom I think I have GAD/am depressed. And while she was gone my grandma called and left a message asking about my mom possibly having breast cancer. Suddenly, I feel bad for only thinking of myself and my problems. Should I still tell her, or should I just be there to support her?

Answer #1

You cannot look at it that way. I mean if we perpetually compared our problems to others, we would never have a right to complain or have feelings about anything, because someone out there always has it worse. You have feelings. Those feelings are real. And unless you take care of yourself, you’re not going to be in any condition to take care of anyone else, least of all your mother. You need to figure out when the right time is to bring it up, but remember that you need to take care of you too… And that is not selfish.

Answer #2

Be there to support her. but tell her about your problems too you can both work together to get throught them. :)
