Is there a form of diabetes transfered genetically?

Just asking because my mom just got diagnosed a diabetic and she is a very healthy person, like barely any junk food(if any) and drinks nothing but tea and water…

Answer #1

Yes, diabetes is a genetic disease and your more likely to have it if your parents or family has it..

Answer #2

great -_- well thnx fr the heads up I guess

Answer #3

Yes, GENERALLY type 1 diabetes is genetic. I.e. people who get diagnosed with it without having type 2 first have it because it is in the family. Type 2 diabetes are MAINLY because of lifestyle, but you also get type 2 which are genetic. You don’t however have to worry that much as long as you exercise and eat really healthy.

Answer #4

don’t worry… i’m just as f**ked as you are :/

Answer #5

yes…. my father and his side of the family have diabetes… i believe its type 2… and even tho it may not be completely transferable with genetics, there is still a chance that i could get it… and im sorry but it sucks!! so i try whenever i can to eat right and exercise whenever possible. that is really the only way to help prevent it

Answer #6

Type one can be genetic, and there is a genetic component of type two, but it is also dependent on lifestyle. Certain people have a genetic predisposition, but whether or not they get it depends on their lifestyle.
