How do you find a point on a plane with three axis?

For example this plane: 2x-y-z=5 The textbook says a point on the plane is (0,-5,0) I have no idea how they got that point.

Answer #1

I haven’t done a lot of three dimensional plane problems, but it looks like they just picked two random numbers and solved for the third one. So they picked zero for both x and z, and solved for y which is -5 based on the equation. So I guess you can find any point on the plane by picking two random numbers, putting them into the variables, and solving for the third one.
