By starting with what they love doing and having the guts to do it. I also find that personality tests such as the meyers briggs give you a good indication about your aptitude and interest without you maybe realising it.

Many people go through a few career changes before they land the job that really makes them happy. I’ve gone through forensics, and have even become a chef before ending up working here, on FunAdvice, which, as it turns out, is the best job I’ve ever had.

Most people work jobs they don’t like. A few have jobs that are a mixed bag; things they like about it and things they don’t. Very few people have anything even approaching an ideal job. I view an ideal job as one so fulfilling that you would do it even if you didn’t need to work and were not paid.
