What's up with the feather things that you clip in your hair?

Answer #1

I’ve seen these things on the streets. I think it’s good, especially with longer hair.

Answer #2

My daughter wears them, but for her it’s part of native pride.

Answer #3

If I’m thinking of the same feather things that you are, they originated in the 60’s as roach clips (for smoking marijuana). The hippies put the feathers on the roach clips, in part, because the indians put feathers on their peace pipes. The started clipping them in their hair, to create the illusion that the clips were hair clips, and not used for any illegal purposes.

Answer #4

thats cool:)

Answer #5

most people wear them just for extra accessories

Answer #6

Just a new fashion trend. It’s cute too. :)

Answer #7

It’s a fashion statement on the most part, today. People have been adorning themselves with bird feathers throughout generations, and across the world. The origin I believe started with Indians. War feathers were added to depict the number slain and the status of the warrior. Hunters to would keep a feather of the game bird, they killed. I think it’s when other cultures met with these tribes, they too became interested in wearing feathers ether for symbolic purposes or fashion. Hippies wore them to link themselves with the Indian way of life rather then the “system”…and to hide the roach clip too…LOL

Answer #8

It’s just one of those trends, like Hello Kitty. Eventually it will go away.
