What is your favorite war movie of all time and why?

300, Last Last Samurai, & 13th Warrior.

Currently it is “The Hurt Locker” because it is so intense and introspective.

Other favorites: Dr Strangelove Bridge on the River Kwai The Americanization of Emily MAS*H Catch 22 The Dirty Dozen (old one, never saw the remake) The Tin Drum Paths of Glory

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of war films, although I watched Glory recently which was very good, if a little sentimental.

I was going to say Band of Brothers, but I guess that doesn’t really count seeing as it’s a miniseries. Movie-wise, I guess my favorite would have to be Gettysburg; I also love Saving Private Ryan, Inglorious Basterds, The Patriot, Dr. Strangelove & Full Metal Jacket.

Oh, I forgot to include the “why”. I guess I like them because I grew up watching films like that with my dad, which in turn made me fascinated with history and war.
