How fast do freight trains travel through towns?

for…. education reasons

Answer #1

It depends on the condition of the tracks, track curvature, braking ability and the signaling used. The worst tracks are limited to under 10 MPH. Freight trains generally do not go above 70 MPH anywhere because the engines are not designed for higher speeds. Passenger trains can go faster under the right conditions.
