Why do your eyes swell when you cry for a long time and how do you get the swelling down?

Answer #1

I think the swelling is caused when the issues surrounding the eye absorbs some of the tears.. You can try, cold cucumber, a frozen spoon or cold water.

Answer #2

for one stop crying lol and wash our face with cool water and use a cold compress over your eyes . eg. get a hankie, wet it and place in the freezer for 5 min or so then place over your eyes but the easiest way is to get a bowl of iced water wet the hanki and put it over your eyes :) it should help but it may not go down 100%

Answer #3

usually this occurs from the straining that the tear ducts undergo…..

since they werent really designed to gush out a lot of liquid and their real job is keeping your eye moist so you wont go blind….

usually any cold compress will work, and there are certain eye drops that will bring the swelling down

Answer #4

i don’t know why its caused but i take a piece of ice and just rub in on where its swelling it bring it down but if you don’t want to make your fingers go numb then just get a washcloth and put ice it in

Answer #5

I totally agree with the frozen spoon…try it on for 15 mins on each eye…
