Do you have to cook salmon?
Most fish can be eaten raw without too much risk. There is always a slight chance of parasites, but no more or less than most of the other things we eat. As long as it is fresh, it should be perfectly safe.
Personally, I could live on nothing but naguro sashimi (raw yellowfin tuna) for the rest of my life and die a very happy fellow.
You can eat it raw, but you should cook it or cure it since you can't always tell whether or not there's a parasite.
