Does anyone know the book, The Awakening?

I just finished reading The Awakening by Kate Chopin. I actually really enjoyed it. I am having a discussion on the book later tonight with a few people from my book club and I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about how edna pontieller’s past affected her new way of seeing life. I think that it’s because she had been so fed up with being a mother and that typical woman figure that she just wanted to break free of all of that.

What do you think?

Answer #1

Yes, I remember while reading it, it made me feel really lonely inside. Somehow Chopin’s projection of the protaganist’s feelings really hit home to me.

I agree with you, Edna was sick of being bound by society’s restraints and their views on how women should act. It’s a great feminist work, in my opinion.
