Depression trouble

I’ve been feeling really depressed lately. It just started like a week ago but its affecting my every day life because I dont feel like doing anything but lay in my bed. Im struggling to force myself to type right now.

The problem is that my family is planning all sorts of things were gunna do for the summer like go to a baseball game and go fishing and go to the rock and roll hall of fame. A week earlier when I wasnt depressed I was actully really looking forward to all these things. But right now I really dont feel like doing anything.

And not only that but I’ve been crying really easily lately, so im really embarased to even go downstairs and watch tv with my family because some things on tv might make me cry, and im a 14 yr old boy so that wont exactly make my family proud. So if I go do all those summer activities with my family I wont enjoy them, and I might cry if I think about the things that are depressing me.

So im wondering. Should I just tell my family im depressed and I dont want to do all those things we have planned, or should I suffer through it?

Another thing im starting to wonder about is if I have bipolar disorder, because I had been having racing thoughts for a couple months, and then one day my racing thoughts settled down, and then the day after I started feeling depressed…

Want to try something DIFFERENT ??? just do the following RIGHT NOW ;

1–chant ‘hari om’(hari as in HURRY & om as in HOME without the ‘H’) do this repetedly & a point will come where you will feel like you just want to close your eyes ( in that case case do it).At this point increase the number of O in om like HARI OOOM & then HARI OOOM & so on.when you chant this VEDIC MANTRA then remain silent (no thinking!,fidgeting,moving,etc) for an amount of time taken to chant this one mantra.this looks very very simple but its effects are very very very large (even ALBERT EINSTEIN would not had imagine it !!!). this is called ‘CHUP SADHANA’ & I learned it from ‘param pujya ASARAMJI bapu’.—>”www.asharam.org “ also read JEEVAN RASAYAN a book from —“http://hariombooks.goog… “ tihs will help remove all weakness from you,believe me millions have obtained benefits from it ,literally.

note: women durimg their periods are not to chant OM but they can chant HARI

this I say to you on basis of teachings of ‘param pujya ASARAMJI bapu’

We cant diagnose you online, so I cant say if the racing thoughts were a manic episode or not. You may want to talk to your doctor about it. And definitely tell your parents. The sooner you address stuff like this, the better it is.

thanks everyone. also I know about hormones and stuff at my age and its usually pretty unlikely that its a disorder. but I just wonder because I’ve had racing thoughts probably since near the begining of 2008 and they very recently stopped (I was actually really happy when they stopped because the affected my life too) , and then just a little while after they stopped I got depressed.

I looked at that link and I have most of those symptoms. but my depression is actually caused by my own thoughts. is that normal for depression? its hard to explain. but is that what depression is? I guess what im trying to say is, are my sad thoughts causing my depression? or is my depression causing my sad thoughts?

You are at an age where hormones, emotions and even your brain are undergoing strong changes. It is natural to occasionally feel confused or depressed.

The best thing you can do is to talk to a counselor. Barring that, find someone you can communicate your emotions and thoughts with, sort of like a sounding board. Keeping your thoughts to yourself doesn’t help. If you can’t find someone around you then consider Fun Mailing someone on Fun Advice.

Also, don’t worry about crying. I’m a 67 year old male and there are still times when movies can make me cry.

I don’t think you have a bipolar disorder. As a teenager myself, I get these too. One day, I’m up and happy. The next, I cry and do nothing. It’s hormones. If it gets any worse than that, please tell your parents and let them help you. I honestly don’t think you should let yourself suffer through this. Your family is here for a reason. If you want to cry, let yourself. You shouldn’t let everything be so private. Being a boy doesn’t mean you can’t cry! Everyone does it. Tell your parents that before you go on these summer events and mess things up with your mood; you’d like to understand what’s happening and ask them for advice. Hope all goes well.<3

what exactly depressing you? anyways, whatever that is you need to find someone you can talk to about it..if you are not comfortable with your parents, you can talk to a friend…someone who’ll listen to you would be ok…think positive and pray and let it out..good luck to u… get well…
