I think, like Chanelglit touched on.. it all stems back to old horror flicks for alot of us. The dolls are like miniature people who look like they could just stand up and walk away. That creeps people out

omg my dads old gf had millions of them, I’d refuse to stay over because the guest room was full of them, they stem back from horror movies etc

omg my grandma has some and she keeps giving them to me and i swear they keep looking at me its so weird i hate them things once i felt it stare at me i hate them things

They are scary to most people because they’re realistic, but they have small faces and eyes which makes them intimidating. Because of things like scary books and scary movies, people have developed an idea about what is creepy and what is not. So when people look at porcelain dolls, they are scared that they will become possessed by an evil spirit of some kind and attack them during their sleep.
