Counseling?

I was cutting myself and apperently one of my friends saw the cuts and told the counselor. He called my mom and now my parents know. my dad wants me to do counseling but I don’t want to. Did anyone ever do counseling?? does it help? I really don’t wanna do it because im not good with talking about my problems to a stranger.

hey dude I know im probably younger than you but it isnt like you think, a stupid lady sitting on a sofa looking evil whilst asking questions and taking notes. no its not like that he/(probably)she gets paid to talk to you about how your feeling she aint gona lock you up! I had some issues but I talked them out and now feeling great!

:) like ichi, I was forced into counseling, in my case it was for cutting (anyone who knows me should know better than to force me to do anything). so I basically lied and a year later ended up in the hospital… so I went back (by choice this time) and I got help. it worked… And no one is good at telling problems to strangers. They’re strangers… But you’ll build a relationship with your counselor. No one is expecting you to reveal your deepest darkest secrets the first time you meet them. It takes time, you learn to trust them, you learnt to work with them, or not… then you go look for another counselor who you can work with (think of it like finding the right pair of shoes, they’re out there, you just gotta keep looking, sometimes the fit wont be right, the style wont be right, etc etc) oh and I’m getting my masters in counseling right now, so I may be a little biased, but I promise we’re not all monsters! in fact most of my classmates are really good people who care about others…

I went for some counselling a few years back because I had some problems I just couldn’t deal with.

It really helped me a lot in dealing with my issues and with life in general.

Go do the counselling, it’s really worth it.

You know, when I was a young teen I went through some very serious problems and I was forced into counseling (I had no choice). I was of the same mind as you are - I didn’t want to share my feelings with anyone, especially someone I’ve never met before.

It took a few sessions before I finally opened up a little, and once I started, it came so naturally - everything that happened in my life that was making me unhappy was suddenly brought to light. Once that happened, I learned how to deal with the problems.

I’m a far better person now for it, and I know how to deal with life.

Get the counseling - there’s never been any regret from receiving help..only from denying it.

okay, thank you all. I guess I’ll consider itt :)

They are trying to look after your best interests - they’ll help you find a better way to cope…I wish you every happiness !!

Answer #7

I wish you you all the best in life and hope that you do go because I had to have my son in counseling for a while and without it I can say today would not be as good as it is.The first time he was not liking it but the second time he said it was ok, then he would ask to go talk to Mrs—. It did wonders and dont think you are alone everyone has problems and needs someone to talk too good luck
