YES the contraceptive implant CAN AND WILL make you gain weight regardless of diet and exercise. I’m a regular swimmer and long distance runner, my diet consists of sald and fruit and even I’ve put on weight! Oh and by the way, I don’t even eat bread, pasta or sugar!

The reason behind this and xxangelcakexx you in particular should take note of this:

Progesterone (the main hormone released in the Contraceptive Implant) stimulates an abnormal increase of Insulin which is a storage hormone. Eat like a rabbit but you will, and I can’t stress it enough YOU WILL gain weight. But, it’ll go within a year when your body is used to it.

I really want to start using a contraceptive and I would like to use the implant but im worried about putting on weight. I was a chubby child and focused all my time getting down to my taget weight which im really happy about, but im worried about getting big again, I would just like to know how much weight will I gain? and how long will it take to lose it? or if I exercise regulary will I be able to keep the weight off? please help!

NO FORM OF CONTRACEPTION CAN MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT! NONE!

What happens is, is increases you appitite and therefore you eat more and gain weight If you watch what you eat, you wont gain weight!

Yes, it can. It is one of the side effects of it.
