Computer addiction

How can you stop a computer addiction? I GO ON EVERYDAY and I dont want my family to think im the one going on all the time like my sister

Answer #1

I think it is ok in moderation. Set a timer and when it goes off, log off and go do something else. I agree I think computers and video games are really effecting our social skills and being comfortable talking to people face to face and finding other activites to do. Good luck

To start off, I really loved the answer above. Computers and video games have been taking the toll on us since we tend to be so occupied with them and not getting out more. I’m on my computer everyday but, I always find a time to where I can do other things besides being on my computer. All you need to do is hang out with friends and family more, go to the movies, help with winter chores such as plowing snow, and shoveling, ect. Things to help you not be on the computer so much. Good luck and try to limit yourself as far as how long you should be on the computer.

Answer #3

Sue90 gave someone else who asked this question the following answer and it’s a good one. If it helps don’t thank me, thank her.

Dear theyoungandhopeful, You are already aware of your problem (good for you). I have taken addictions in college for 2 years and technically the computer isn’t the drug it’s the program (games whatever) You always trade one addiction for another…so you need to do something else during the time you have become habitual with the computer. Guess what: cold turkey…(yikes) I know it’s scary but for the time being it’s a must. No computers. Most libraries have a time limit on computers and they can be accessed for homework style surfing only. But like an alcoholic that has to drop everything that is familiar with alcohol consumption you must do the same with computers. So replace the time you spent on the PC with…something desirable; a new hobby, friends but it has to be something you really like. Sue…good luck
