Why can my cat eat this specific brand, but not that specific brand?

I have been buying Freckles (male) and Mischief (female) Special Kitty (I alternate the flavors when I get a new bag) since 2009/2010. Recently, my husband and I ran out of cat food in the middle of the week, and we literally only had $2.00 to our name so we used to buy a brand called Kit & Kaboodle from Purina. The very day I bought it, my cat puked it up, and today, while it was sitting on the table, Freckles knocked it onto the floor spilling it faster then I could pick it up and he managed to get a good amount down. Just a few minutes ago, he puked it back up. This doesn’t happen with Special Kitty. Is there something wrong with Kit & Kaboodle or are my cats much too used to Special Kitty brand dry cat food?

I don’t think it’s your cats. Different food are…well…different. Some cats are picky. My grandma’s cat ate one brand but barely ate it. Then she tried another brand (I think Meow Mix or something) and she ate almost all of it. I don’t know the “secret” recipe for cat food but I do know each brand is different. If you can’t afford the original cat food then put some catnip on the food or mix that cat food with something they do like. If your cats have been eating that same food for a while then it could be that your cats are having a hard time adjusting to the change. Maybe just give it time. Good luck with this situation! My cats are so stubborn! :P

Because the cat is used to it…….. if you keep a certain kind of food out for a while the cat will adventualy eat it

thanks! i tried looking at the ingrediants but i couldn’t keep the tiny writing in focus on either box/bag! they got their original food and is doing fine :) hopefully i wont have to buy Kit & Kaboodle again.

Cats also get allergies and intolerances, the most common of which is chicken. Your worse foods will not list chicken or deboned chicken at all, let alone in the first two, where you need it to be for cats. That’s your ideal meat for their energy needs, growth and flourishing. Meow mix has nothing of value, it’s MacDonalds and crisps for kids, every day, the secret with catfood is scent to stimulate appetite and make them eat it as if it was any good. THink of a child facing a plate of vegies. There is a HUGE difference, for a reason. I have a lot of research on it. Not all cat foods are good, some have stuff in it that you would NEVER feed your cat.
