I am almost a senior and need to find out what to do with my life. I love children and helping people but I am VERY shy... Does anyone have any ideas? :(
I am going to start doing my articles for accounting to become a chartered accountant in February. My advice after 4 years of doing something just to get a good job and not because I like it. Go for something you like, you have the ability to learn whatever you want and the shyness will get better once you build confidence (I know, I have been there). If you do something you like then the money won't matter that much to you and you'll be more creative in your thinking and find someway to make it more that just worth your while.
I dont really have a career just yet, but I am an MSc student, and I am hoping to have a career in research, so it will be pretty similar to what I do now! I love research, its really interesting and fun. Its strange because parts of it involve public speaking, and communication, and I used to be terribly shy and unsure of myself. But Colleen is right, shyness should fade when you have more experience and feel more confident in your own ability.
I'm the Editor/Admin for this great site called FunAdvice, and it's a fantastic way to make a living. Funny thing is, I have a degree in forensics and I'm a certified Chef...go figure... You love children and helping people? Maybe a teacher, counsellor, early childhood educator...etc...don't worry about being shy - that tends to fade with experience.
