Can I put a cell phone under my name?

For my birthday I was supposed to get a new phone, but my mom ealized that she still owes Verizon like 700$ form my dads cell phone, that he wracked up bills for and never paid. So She cant get a new phone under her name.

Im only 16,but is there a way I can get the phone service put under MY name? Or how else can I get the phone and the plan?

I have an At&T Pay As You Go phone. No contracts or anything. You just buy minutes and go. Walmart carries them, as well as Radio Shack.

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,         And maybe lessen the cares in your way;         And also, too, to help you to know,         That in knowing you, many others grow!

Being only 16, you can’t legally “contract” so you wouldn’t be able to sign a contractual arrangement for the phone.

The best bet is as mentioned above, a pay as you go phone where you prepay for minutes.

I don’t know how things are where you live, but around here you can as long as your credit is in good standing

Answer #4

Unless you lie about your age (WHICH YOU SHOULDN’T!!!) you can’t. You’ll have to wait until you’re 18 or get a prepaid (or pay as you go) phone.

I used to have one and I would have kept it if I didn’t find a really nice phone on sale for 2 days at $0 lol, actually they gave me $100 for going on contract :D

Answer #5

YEA you CAN GET your OWN phone WIT your NAME because DATS DA WAY I AM. I GOT CRICKET PHONE & JUST TELL THE PERSON your BUYING IT FROM 2 CHANGE THE UNKNOWN NAME TO YOUR NAME because ITS UNDER your NAME.

Answer #6

Get a pay-as-you-go phone and avoid that business altogether.

Answer #7

At 16 you should not be ruining your credit which will happen if you lie about your age or change the name. Avoid this issue, it is not necessary. Just purchase a prepaid cell phone plan that stops when the money runs out. You can always add minutes if you chose. You can get 250 minutes for about $20. You can add minutes for about 8 cents each.
