Are "calm" and "relaxing" kind of the same?

Answer #1

Yes

Answer #2

Yes but calm doesn’t necesarily mean you are relaxed. Like if you’re mom tells you to calm down, it’s just sitting there, but relaxed is also sitting there but enjoying being calm.

Answer #3

i would say the word is relaxed if youre comparing it to calm

Answer #4

Calm is more controlling your emotions and keeping them stable. Relaxed is feeling at ease, and not actually having the raging emotions to control in the first place.

Answer #5

For me, it’s almost the same but not a lot. Being calm is being undercontrol and and just feeling at a good balance, and relaxing is more of traying to get undercontrol and traying to get the “calm” feeling.

Answer #6

calm- peaceful, undisturbed, quiet. relaxing- soothing, resting. “the calm is relaxing.” “relaxing calms me.” similar but not synonyms
