How did the boom in gold and silver change the West?

Answer #1

Basically it caused people to rush to California, BC and The Yukon Territory. Up until gold was discovered the west was still for the most part unexplored and wild. Basically the discoveries of these metals caused people to rush to these areas hoping to make it big. ( I know more about the Klondike gold rush than the other ones) hope I helped :)
