Did my betta eat my other betta's tail?

My betta is missing its tail and I wanted to know if one of my other neon colored fish could have eaten its tail, cause it looks like it was bitten off. If you know anything about athe fish that could have done this please help me.

Answer #1

yes probably. I had 2 bettas with a glass divider between them and when I got back from camping they were both on same side but one was dead while the other had a ripped up tail. there were no other fish in the tank,

Answer #2

betas are really super agressive, and they also have to go to the surface to breathe. If you put two male betas in the same tank, they will fight, which usually results in torn fins and tails, which can kill both of them because they won’t be able to swim to the surface to breathe and they will drown.

You should probably separate them before anything major happens.

Answer #3

You can’t put two bettas together! They are very territorial and each need their own tank. They will fight to the death. Do some research before buying the animal please :)

Answer #4

the same thing happened to my betta fish when I was about 7, then a few days later he died :’[ the only difference is that I didn’t have other fish in my tank..his tail just sort of fell off..

but yes anyway, as the guy above me said, betta fish are NOT supposed to be in the same tank with any other fish. that is why their full name is the “siamese fighting fish”

Answer #5

if there is more than 1 betta in a tank they will fight, betta’s are very aggressive and often will attack other fish so maybe one of the others fought with it

Answer #6

yeah he did

Answer #7

Uhm like everyone else said, put them in different tanks or put a screen between them
