I don’t know much about your personal preferences, but bands I started listening to around the same time I started to listen to them include: Norma Jean, Mastodon, Deicide, DevilDriver (my favorite!) and 36 Crazyfists, my second favorite band. I’d recommend DevilDriver if you’re into speed metal, and 36 Crazyfists just because I love the vocalist’s abilities to rapidly shift his pitch and scream.
