I recently bought a new HP and my free anti-virus is about to run out. I've heard good and bad things about Norton, Trend and Webroot. Any suggestions?
Webroot isn't bad, but Nortons is pretty awful. I had Nortons pre-installed on my netbook when I got it, and I have never activated it. It's just not worth it. I used McAfee until it expired personally, then I went and downloaded the Comodo Internet Security. Norton is the worst anti-virus out there, it has been disabled on my PC ever since it expired in 2007. I use Avast Anti-virus, yes it may freeze my computer when it updates, but my system is secure and that's what I mainly care about.
You have a better chance with Avast than you do with Norton.
Last time my computer had to get whiped out was because of norton & warcraft. :| The guy that comes & fixes our computer said almost all of his clients have been having problems wif norton. Bahh. D:
I recommend Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Never goes wrong when I had it. Only reason I uninstalled it was because I had no need for any anti-virus software.
I find Norton very, very good. I use Norton 360 and it's very efficient and hasn't given me any problems as of yet.
norton is a scam?? i had mcafee before sicne that's what comcast offered and now they changed it to norton.!

An Australian computer magazine recommended Trend, and that is what we use here.

I use Avast & Malware. Norton is a scam, get it uninstalled.

did you use webroot? i'm thinking about getting that
no get mcafee.. it works way good for me!

Maybe that's better than Avast
