Algebra help?

I have this equation:

5(p+3)+9 = 3(p-2)+6

So I did the distributive property: (5p+15)+9 = (3p-6)+6

What do I do next? I don’t need help on th whole thing. I just need to know what the next step is.

Answer #1

You conbine like terms… 5p+24=3p (the negitave 6 gets canceled by the positive 6)

Answer #2

u subtract 3p from 5p which = 2p

Answer #3

you combine like terms on each side

Answer #4

yes… it is -12

Answer #5

(5p+15)+9=(3p-6)+6 can be simp. to 5p+15+9=3p-6+6

 -24           -24

5p=3p-24 +3p -3p

8p=-24 divide 8p and -24 by 8 p = -3

Answer #6

Well, since you did the distributive property, you can get rid of the parenthesis.. so that gives you 5p+15+9 = 3p-6+6 Which simplifies to… 5p+24=3p Then you should try and get both terms with “p” on the same side… so divide both sides by 5p which gives you… 24=3p/5p and then solve for p from there

Answer #7

Okay. so I have:

5p+24=3p

So I subtracted 5p from each side.

24=-2p

Divide by 2 to get -12.

Yes? No?
