Can you use "ain't" as a word now on school papers?

They would mark off for this every time I used it.

Answer #1

No Chris you can’t. Having been a teacher myself I would also takes marks away for the use of this word. The word isn’t is better to use.. But here in Trinidad we have our own dialect which confuses a lot of people. Foe example, “leh we go an take ah lime” which really means “lets hang out together”, plus lots more which would humor you guys on this site.

Answer #10

That was what I tried to tell my teachers, I remember in High School I got a 32 on my report card in English. I had a dispute I told that women “I talked the English very well” I then quit school. Bad choice, have been in school ever since.

Answer #11

I still don’t think it should be marked off, if used in popper context, :)

Answer #12

Teacher wrote “i ain’t had no fun in months.” on the board. then asked “how do i correct this?” little boy replied “you get a new girlfriend.”

Answer #13

aint or ent as i pronounce it, is just another way of saying is not, am not and are not.

im sure i used it at school and im sure other british schools use it but i dont know about other countries.

Answer #14

Yes you can. Once it is used as dialect. As you did in the question. Lol

Answer #15

No you cannot because it is not a real word.Ain’t should be isn’t or aren’t.Like for example Ain’t you go to the store yet?Thats INCORRECT.Instead,Didn’t you go to the store yet?would be CORRECT.Some teachers get really angry when kids use ain’t and they take off points.do not use it in school.but you can use it outside of school if you wanna be wrong :/ if you can speak very well to people and use complete sentences then you get better job opportunities in my opinion.

Answer #16

My guess is it depends on the teacher. And given the state of education and what kids get away with today, probably. And on what planet is ain’t a ‘real’ word? It is slang. That does NOT make it a ‘real’ word. Renaldo, you need to look up the definition of the word dialect. What dialect uses the word ain’t?

Answer #17

well not really.no.where i’m from(trinidad)we use that alot.i agree with avian.hi avian.!!!. we normally use “ent”.for e.g ent you……….?wic basically means aren’t you……….?again,hi avain.!!!

Answer #18

Hello!!! Hi.. where are you from? .

Answer #19

i mean what part of Trinidad..

Answer #20

No you can’t. Using slang words may impress or relax the reader, but it has more chances to lower your grade.
