After how many dyes does the condition of your hair deteriorate?

I recently tried bleaching my hair blonde again. I bleached it yesterday and because the previous colour was a darkish brown, it went bright orange. I put a platinum blonde dye on today and it has gone a yellowish ginger.

My hair feels a bit dry and fluffy now. I’ve put loads of conditioner on so it feels smoothe. But still really flyaway. I can’t stay this yellow ginger colour. I’ve got to dye it dark brown again (I’m really miffed about this because there was no point to the bleach now!).

I’m just wondering how many hair dye applications does it take for your hair to start falling out or becoming rough and horrible?

I know you hate the color, but stop now while you still have hair and give your hair time to get healthy. There should be a phone number on the hair color you used, so call them and ask - or, if you have a stylist you go to regularay, ask her/him. The goal is to give your hair every chance to stay in. And the brown on top of the other - your hair is going to grab that brown and it will be dark and yes, you hair may fall out, so STOP! Think of your hair as having sustained an injury. It needs to heal. What hair color does is take the shaft (strand) of hair and expand it so the color molecules can get in. When you bleach, you strip the color from the hair shaft, and it becomes brittle. You’ve now made your hair very fragile (and no, I’m not ragging on you, I’ve had my “haircolor horror stories” too). But if you want your hair to survive this adventure into multiple hair bleachings, you are going to have to deeply condition it. Go to a salon and ask them to condition it and give you recommendations on when it’s safe to color again. And don’t be shy about telling them everything you did to your hair, because I don’t think there is a decent hair cutting specialist who hasn’t seen and/or heard what we can do to our hair. Just wait to dye, ok? I know you hate the color, but do you want to end up in some hot pink wig like Britney Spears?

Hello, my name is Megan, and I am a HairDye-aholic.
I shaved my head a few years ago because it was so damaged. I dyed my hair (no bleach) for four years consistantly (every three weeks). I am happy to report today, I have been dye free for nearly two years! :)

be really careful with chemicals. go see your stylist before you do anything else. check out TIGI Catwalk Oatmeal and Honey products. It’s kind of expensive, but it’s tailored for damaged hair (and it smells amazing) I know they have deals on it on ebay. good luck.
