19 and never had a job before!!

I’m turning 19 real soon and have never had a job.I live with my parents, evidently.I don’t want to rely on them for money anymore.Independence is what I need.I want to save up money for a car and extra money to spend on myself.I really want to get one but I’m scared that the employers will reject me since I’ve never had a job and that they’ll think I lack the skills to be a good employee. What kind of job do you think I should look for?Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated I feel so lost!

Why dont you start in retail, its very easy to get in places like mc donalds or tesco’s or marks and spencers.

My first job was at 19. Give teachers and professors as your references. The only job I had before was dog-sitting. In the interview they asked me the biggest challenge… my answer …cleaning up dog poop! School is like a job. If you did well there, you’ll be fine. I’m 21 and still have the same job. I am now a supervisor. As long as you’re a hard worker and do what you’re asked, you’ll do fine. One warning though, since you haven’t had experience you’ll get paid very low at first. But you have to start somewhere, be a hard worker and you’ll work your way up.

Well in order to get experience which will help u get a better job, u need to start SOMEWHERE. I got hired two months after I turned 16. I work as a cashier. U need no experience for that, plus it looks really good if u ever happen to fill out a resume because it shows that u know how to assist customers, u know how to handle money, and most of all you know how to organize isles. I mean a liitle store is a good place to start.

Well everybody has to start somewhere, so your employers will have that in mind. Usually for starters they’d give you jobs that don’t need much experience - like at the counter of a fast food restaurant, or stuff like scanning and copying documents in an office… assistant of some sort… Most of those jobs have a quick training session where they show you how to do what, and that’s all the experience you need. Ask around, ask older friends or relatives what they’ve worked as first jobs.
