Okay, Maria got half of the answer. The correct answer is that both artist have one album with songs titled “Hit the lights” and “ Whiplash” but they only share the song names. The songs are completely different lirically and written by different songwriters. She did not cover Metallica’s songs. It is merely a coincidence or perhaps the songwriters of Selena’s songs was a Metallica fan and pranked her. :D The albums are Metallica’s 1983’s “Kill ‘em all” and Selena Gomez and The Scene 2011 “When the sun goes down” Another interesting tidbit is that the song “Whiplash” share the same position on both album but Selena’s whiplash was actually written by Britney Spears.

That would only happen in an alternate universe. :D
