People dont like being treated like crap, they probably have a really low self esteem, which means being treated like crap fits into the picture they have of themselves, they are not valuable people and so they should be treated like crap... it fits into the way they think... If someone treats them nicely, it's just so completely against the way they view themselves and the world, that sometimes they will back out of it because it is just too dissonant.

a lot of times its because they were abused as a kid...

I would think that would make them opposed to it but I guess not.

I have a few friends like that, but they still dont mind being treated like crap.

No your all wrong; women want what they can't controll.. and someone who treats 'em like crap is someone who they can't controll.. and most of the time at first the person who treats them this way was nice.
