I just turned 17 years old, and I've been feeling mine starting to come in lately... aside from hurting like hell, I don't think it could actually kill you.

No. The pain and soreness of a wisdom tooth coming through can go on for years into your mid twenties. Some people keep their wisdom teeth, others have to have them removed. Wisdom teeth were originally used in our primative days when we ate raw meet as cave men, used for tearing meat. Now we don't live like that, evolution has made our mouths smaller and therefore there usually isn't enough room for wisom teeth to come through properly, hence they alway seem to give us problems and pain.
