Why there is a red light in a room for developing camera film? It seems odd that light is bad, but red light is OK for film from an old school camera?

the red light is called a safe light if you were to expose the film to pure light bfore using the chemicals your picture will get destroyed its probably safe because itsnot as bighter but thats just a guess
