Why it is wrong for white people to say their proud to be white?

Ok this is a response to a girl who asked if is wrong for a white person is proud to be white. I worded the question like that because that was how she worded it , and I couldn’t add my post so I made my own. My opinion applies to all races but I’m answering the question posed on an earlier date so I’m using white people as and example to answer her question. Do you agree or disagree with my opinion?

Are you proud of the slavey that your people forced on others? Are you proud that your people displaced Indigenous peoples, and took over their land? Are you proud that your people built the America’s on the back and by the blood of slaves? Are you proud that your people use to consider other races inferior? Or are you proud that your people made an effort to chage the past? Are you proud that they pay restitution to the Indigenous peoples for taking their land? Or are you proud that blacks are finally geting recognition for the building of America? becasue you better believe my people built America while your people sat around telling us what to do, and then took all the recognition. Or are you proud that your people finally realized they were not the most superior race? If you can not answer yes to each question than you are not proud to be white. To be proud of your race is to be be completely satisfied with the history of your race, If you are proud of the history of your race than it makes sense that you would be proud to be white because of you races accomplishments. If thats the case than your racist and agreed with the past behaviours of your race. I think people need to be proud of their accompliments because to say you are proud of your race is to say you are proud of you peoples place in history, and I’m sure we could all see that no race at anytime has been perfect. Be proud of who you arr, but don’t let your race define you.

I agree that your race shouldn’t define who you are as a person.

I also think using phrases with “your people” in it is one of the many reasons racism continues to exist in the first place.

Hi,

I don’t think that anyone should be proud of their ethnicity.

I mean: If you have a grade A in math, then you can be proud of it ‘cause it’s something you achieved. If you are member in a certain political movement, then you can be proud of it, because it’s something you chose. If you are member of a certain faith, then you can be proud of it, because it’s something you believe in.

But: If you are member of a certain ethnicity then it’s something that just happened to you completely beyond your control.

If everyone in the world rolls a dice, and is thus assigned a number from 1 to 6, and then people would say: “I am proud to be a number-4-person!” That would be completely ridiculous. I think its the same with ethnicity. You just happen to have certain facial features, a hair color and a number of pigments in your skin. You can’t choose your relatives. You can’t choose your ancestors. It’s nothing you achieve. It’s nothing you could change.

So it’s useless to take pride in it.

Im a biologist, I dont believe in race. I could have more genetic similarities with someone of african descent than with the white person down the road.

Rockstar wanna be

The only reason blacks traded off each other is because if they didn’t they would have been sold themselves. It’s called divide and conquer!!!

Answer #5

I think it’s completely idiotic to be proud of something that you didn’t even achieve… A person should be proud of finishing college, or finding a cure for cancer, not for being born a certain way!? lol it’s absolutely idiotic

Answer #6

There’s nothing wrong with having pride in your appearance, who you are and your cultural background. Be especially proud of yourself though when you do things for the selfless benefit of others. I’m of mixed background so my family tend to look at others more in terms of whats on the inside.

Answer #7

im 100% proud to be white. you dont have to be proud about everything in history of your race. every country has done something bad. white people had slaves but africans are also responsible cause they traded their own people to the other countries. every race or country has good and bad things about it.

Answer #8

Everybody should be proud of being any race they are. Every race has their own brackround and their own effort that was made to take us to what we are today. I’m not white but I am proad of who I am. So many people wont be able to answer to so many questions… Does it mean all white people are not proud? Probobly not, just means that they need to dig in their history or they don’t have time or something. But just because they don’t answere every sngle question does not mean they are not proud. I myself am half black and half mexican. I do know a lot about my history of african americans, but yet I don’t know soo much about my mexican backround. Am I proud? Yes I am. Of both of them.
